This
GRR-Ripper owner had a special project (building a special Clamp Rack) and came
up with a very interesting cut with the GRR-Ripper GR-200, which otherwise will
be almost impossible to achieve.

He
made a perfect straight groove on a slightly bent long dowel. A piece of
scrap board was secured to the Stabilizing Plate in helping straighten the long
dowel during routing process. The same technique can be applied to table
saw operation as well. The
following gallery shows you how to set up the GRR-Ripper (GR-200) for the groove
cut on a dowel, it contains eleven (11) photographs,
a solid gray arrow on either side of the
thumbnails below indicates there is more to see in that direction. Click on the
solid gray arrows to navigate through the presentation, and then click on the
thumbnail to see a larger display and annotation. Please follow the
sequence of the pictures in their order for step-by-step set up procedures, starting
from the far left. Please also check out the movie clip link located below
the gallery.

This picture shows the finished dowel and the GRR-Ripper GR-200 set up.
The long dowel is placed against the fence and showing a gap between the dowel and the fence.
Use a scrap board that is thinner than the diameter of the dowel but thicker than the radius of the dowel.
The scrap board having a length equal or longer than the dowel and at least 8" (203mm) in width. Secure the Stabilizing Plate with hardware to the scrap board as shown.
Flip the GRR-Ripper upside down along the edge of router table and secure the Adjustable Spacer as shown.
Locking the Balance Support to the GRR-Ripper a lower level to give clearance when inserting it to the T-Bolt Assemblies as shown.
Keeping pressures on the Adjustable Spacer and lock the Balance Support with scrap board resting on the router table.
Pressure is applied on the scrap board towards the dowel and fence. Tighten the two thumb knobs on Stabilizing Plate - this will straighten the bent dowel.
Move the handle towards the dowel and securely tighten it with phillip screwdriver.
The set up is now ready for cutting.
The long dowel shown with a perfect groove successfully cut.
