Subject: GRR-Ripper -- worth it? You guys that bought one of the fancy GRR-Rippers -- do you still use it after having had it for a few months? Is it the cat's meow that the manufacturer claims it is? Larry |

Subject: Definitely! I actually have two. Indispensible when I have to cut really thin/narrow strips on my table saw. Two actually work well to cut long strips. Harold |

Subject: Mine's going with me to the grave! Love that thing! I find more uses for that thing than almost any other "accessory" I own. |

Subject: Re: Mine's going with me to the grave! Mike, Sorry to hear that you are sick. Of course if you had hauled ash out of the woods during the winds a few weeks ago you would probably be feeling alright. I hope that you had a great Turkey Day. I love my Grrr gripper also. Fred |

Subject: Re: GRR-Ripper -- worth it? I have a pair for about a year now(glad I got two) and would not be without them,I use 'em at the table saw, jointer, router table anyplace I dont want my hands getting too close to the cutter and they really grip well, giving you good control of the work. |

GRR-Ripper -- worth it? My question with it is whether you can use it with a splitter, or for that matter, even with most guards. It seems like, if you're using a splitter, the GRRipper would be relegated to being just another (very expensive) push stick. If you're not using a guard and/or splitter, it does seem a good idea, though. Jim D. |

Subject: Re: GRR-Ripper -- worth it? Depends on your splitter. If its one of those tiny little ones that sit low and behind the blade - you could use the GRIPPER. If its a standard - nope. However, I can't manage to rip 1/4" wide strips reliably and accurately with a blade guard in place - the blade guard prevents the fence from moving in that close in my case. I could do it I guess if the offcuts were my workpieces but then the fence has to move with every cut, decreasing speed and accuracy. You're right though, for those of us who don't, and probably should, use a blade guard, the Grripper is fine. |

Subject: Re: GRR-Ripper -- worth it? Hi Jim, Yeah, it depends on the kind of splitter you have. I have a Brett-Guard, which has a small metal splitter that goes with it (the anti-kickback cleat is in the overarm guard). So I generally either use the overarm guard or the GRR-Ripper, not at the same time. The small splitter is not problem in this case - fits right through the ripper channel. Of course the manufacturer's claim is that the ripper eliminates the need for a splitter. I'm inclined to believe him based on the rationale they give, but use one anyway when possible. - Ed |

Subject: Re: Micro Jig has a new DVD for....
highly recomended!!!!worth
every penny....I challenge you to cut 1/4" x 1/4" ebony pieces
3" long any other way that is safer and easier than using the Micro Jig Grripper...we use them daily here at the school.....you
are correct that you must remove the guard and splitter but the Grripper in my opinion make this operation much more
safe....Good luck |

Subject: Benefit besides narrow cutting Howdy, I used to occasionaly let my work pieces dip into the profiles of my smart fence inserts (guess I cut some holes a little too big). With the Gripper's, when I get to the end of a workpiece, it glides right past the hole with the Gripper against the fence; and that green rubber does indeed reaallly hold. I can't use my fence feather board at the same time, but with Gripper i really don't need it. |

Subject: where can I see one of these GRR-Rippers? I sort of figured out what one of these things do, but where can I see what it is and where it can be obtained? Up to now, I've never heard of GRR-Ripper. |
