Slide 1 - Zero Clearance Throatplates. Before buying an MJ Splitter or MJ Splitter Steel PRO make sure your table saw meets the following requirements.
The MJ Splitter or MJ Splitter Steel PRO needs to be installed on a Zero Clearance Insert (ZCI) that has no opening as shown in the red OEM plate. The ZCI can be made from MDF with or without laminate, good quality plywood, UHMW or Phenolic as shown.
-
Slide 2The stock throat plate may not accommodate for narrow ripping and narrow strips may get trapped in the wide slot opening and can be potentially hazardous if attempted.
-
Slide 3ZCI are not only safer than the stock throat plate when installed properly but they also produce cleaner cuts.
