Slide 1 - The 45°/90° ZeroPlay Cut off JigHere is another suggested unique application for the ZeroPlay Guide Bar. The 45°/90° ZeroPlay Cut-Off Jig works great for cutting accurate 45° and 90° angles on the table saw.
This ZeroPlay Jig's base is made from transparent polycarbonate for demonstration purposes. You can use MDF or plywood in your shop.

Slide 2 -Top View of the Jig. (For clarity purposes, the jig is standing on its front 90° fence)The ZeroPlay Jig uses a unique "triangle support fence" to secure 90° cuts at the front of the jig and 45° cuts at the rear two corners of the jig.
You can also see that we use a MJ Deflector+Connector as a chip deflector when making cuts.

Slide 4 - Bottom View of the Jig.We use a single ZeroPlay Guide Bar to guide the jig in the miter slot. With a ZeroPlay bar, the Jig will have no side-to-side play ensuring accuracy and precision.

Slide 6 - ZeroPlay Jig in Left Miter SlotThis is how we set up the jig to make a 90° cut on the left side miter slot. Begin by sliding the Triangle Support Fence towards the 45° corners, creating a space for the stock.

Slide 9 - ZeroPlay Jig Setup for 45° CutSetting up for a 45° cut is just as simple as the 90° cut. Although you can make 45° and 90° cuts from both left and right miter slots, we are making this 45° cut from the right miter slot.
Begin by sliding the Triangle Support Fence towards the square edge of the jig to allow space for the stock. Line up the stock against the appropriate 45° corner.
When making 45° cuts on stock with square opposing surfaces, you simply flip over the stock to make the 45° for both ends in the side slot. When cutting 45° on stock with a profiled surface such as picture frames, flipping the profiled stock over and make the cut in the same slot will create a compounded angle which does not match the 45° on the other end. You can solve this problem with either solution below.
1. Using the same slot with the fence set at exact +45° for one end and then adjust the fence to exact -45° for the opposite end. Error mostly occurred when changing the fence angle resulting in a gap in the 90° joint.
2. Build a jig with fixed 45° fences such as shown here, switching slots does not incur angle error and this design also provides “Tear-Out” support for both 90° and 45°.

Slide 10 - ZeroPlay Jig in Right Miter SlotSecure the stock by sliding the fence over to "pinch" the stock in and tighten by turning the knobs.
