Bevel Cutting with the GRR-RIPPER

“Can I make bevel cuts with my GRR-RIPPER?” is a pretty common question that we get, and the answer is, of course, “Yes!” There are a few things to consider when bevel cutting, but with care you can make these cuts safely and without damaging your GRR-RIPPER.

As with any cut, the proper blade height is important. Angling the blade changes the overall height so make sure it will cut through but keep it as low as possible. At an angle any extra height also means the carbide tips will extend further away from the rip fence. Excess blade extension can make it harder to adjust the GRR-RIPPER legs to clear the saw teeth.

The SafeRip Index on the GRR-RIPPER does work with bevel cuts, so you will need to manually check the legs for clearance. The GRR-RIPPER always guides along the rip fence on the table saw. If the outer leg is in the blade path, you can add the Adjustable Spacer or Balance Support to the rip fence side of the GRR-RIPPER to shift the legs to the left.

The GRR-RIPPER 2GO is also fully capable of bevel cutting within the limits of the leg positions. Set up the cut and manually check the legs to ensure they are not in the blade path. If they are, you can turn the 2GO around to shift the legs over and clear the blade. Again, keeping the blade height as low as possible will allow for the maximum range of bevel angles and cut widths.
